Long Summer Nights!
Well my days as a stay at home mom are coming to and end.. I have so many mixed emotions about this! First of all I am sad about all the things I am going to miss with Jett growing up, I know I am so lucky he gets to stay home with his dad but I want to be the one he runs to when he gets hurt! Secondly I am not cut out for this! I honestly think that stay at home moms have the hardest job and I cannot understand how you can do this day in and day out!!! I would like to go to work just to get a break. But the time I have had at home with my baby have been amazing. He is still in his brace but we can take it off for 8 hours a day and he is doing so good! His right hip socket is completely formed and he is a 38% coverage. We just need to bring that up to 50% and that brace will be a piece of history!
Jett is getting so big he will be 11 weeks on Tuesday, He weighs 11lbs 10oz and is 23 inches long! He now smiles at you and interacts very well, he will even copy you and make motions like he is trying to talk (although I know he is not). He is very fun and I enjoy him very much! He has discovered he has hands and studies them non stop! I am looking forward to the rest of our adventures together!

The dreaded brace!
After visiting Dr. Stotts at Primary Children's we were told that Jett needed to wear a brace to help his hips form correctly. As a new mother I was not so happy to hear this, the brace is really bulky and it keeps the legs spread apart and bent at the knee. I cried for about 2 days, I know it is going to help him but I wanted a baby so I could snuggle with him and hold him close this brace made it impossible to do so. I was told he would have to wear it 4 weeks, which is not a long time and I can totally deal with that! After 4 weeks of wearing it every hour of every day I was told he would have to wear it another 4 weeks :( again not a happy mom!! The good news is that it is doing him some good! The way they measure his healing is the percentage of how much of his hip is covered by the socket, when Jett was born his right leg was at 0% and 4 weeks later he is at 34%!! This was great news, and we are able now to take him out of the brace for 4-6 hours a day! Snuggle time here we come! The brace does not bother Jett at all and he even starts to get cranky now when he is out of it for a few hours. We are hoping to get a good ultrasound on June 10th and take it off for good! Keep your fingers crossed!
Welcome Baby Jett!!
I know this blog is about 7 weeks late :) but I have been busy and I do want to share my birthing story or the lack there of!
First of all I was having a scheduled c-section which we all knew. Eben and I had to be at the hospital at 5:30am!! That is so early for us so to make our life easier we stayed the night at moms! it was fun Sara was there and Lacey and Saige, I made dinner and just hung out- we went to bed about 8pm so not a really long night! I was so nervous I hardly slept!! I was up every hour to pee and I wanted to just burst with all of the emotions I was feeling!!
Finally it was time to go, we got to the hospital, got checked in and they started giving me my work up of medication and monitoring the baby. The nurse that I got happened to be Mickenzie and Lacey's aunt Suzie, I felt so comfortable with her, and was lucky I finally got a nurse that cared about me. Once we got all of my IV's in and put my bowels to sleep it was time for the epidural. This is where I almost died of anticipation! We walked in to the surgery room and it was like a scene out of an alien movie! There was one steel table with places for your arms to be strapped down and a bright light shining on the table. I was so scared and knew this was not the type of birth I wanted. I knew it was needed but I didn't want to do it.
The epidural was a mess, it hurt so bad! I could not relax and I felt like he was going to screw the medicine right through my body! OUCH!!!! Thankfully it didn't last long, then we found out it didn't work. All of that pain and it did not work! I was angry at this point. The dr decided to give me a medicine that "Might make me tired." No it put me completely out, I was gone- off into a Dr. Who dream land. When I woke up I was so confused and in a lot of pain. My husband was gone and the worst part my baby was gone, I had no idea where they were or what was happening, so my way to deal with this was to swear! I asked for every person that was there with me and that sweet nurse Suzie went and got all of my family and let them come back and see me. They all assured me that Jett was beautiful and he was safe with his daddy! For some reason it did not register so every single person got the same question about the baby! My midwife was there holding my hand the whole time.
Finally the moment I had waited 39 long weeks for I got to see my baby!! He was the most beautiful boy I have ever seen, he was just as confused as I was and we just sat there in silence together and felt so comfortable and safe finally together.
The next few days in the hospital were very hard, c-section is not easy and the recovery with a brand new baby you have no idea how to deal with should be outlawed!!! The nurses were great though they helped me so much and my perfect baby was the greatest nurser!! He needed no instruction on how to eat, which was so nice finally something went right! We really worked together and made feeding a great bonding time! I just love this kid!!
We soon learned that because of the position of his body during gestation that his hips did not develop correctly because of this both of his hips were dislocated and he was going to have to go to Primary Children's hospital the Monday after he was born to have an Orthopedic Dr look at them..

14 days away!
Well my adventure of becoming a mom is coming to a close! Thank the lord seriously! I am so ready to have a baby I can't even stand it! I had to go see a perinatologist on Friday because Kathy thought my amniotic fluid was low, so Eben and I saw the meanest most inconsiderate doctor ever made. I can't even remember his name that is how much I hated him! He wasn't concerned about the amniotic fluid but more about Jett's belly, he said that his belly is not proportional to his arms and legs because of that he thinks that I might have gestational diabetes although I have been tested twice and have had negative test results. At this point in my pregnancy I am not going to worry about diabetes.. I have been fine and it seems to me that a lot of people have had this conversation about big belly's I think he is just trying to scare me. He also looked at me like I was crazy when I told him about the cord issue with the baby. He said that there is probably something in my babies brain that did not tell him to turn. I was really upset about this comment- Eben told me that he didn't say it the way I took it but I am 37 weeks pregnant and freak out at the littlest thing about the baby and he needs to handle me with kid gloves.. Any good dr would know that. He also took this as an opportunity to lecture me about being overweight when I got pregnant. I told him I had a full medical work up and got the ok from a DR to have the baby, he still thought it was his place to tell me about the risks of being overweight. Just a jerk all the way around! I go in tomorrow after fasting for 12 hours tonight and take the glucose test again!!! I know it will be perfect! Hopefully I get to meet the surgeon for my c-section this week.. It would be nice to get some plans straightened out for that. More later!

Almost there!!! 35 weeks!
Well, I am almost a mom. Only 5 weeks (or less) left! I am getting so excited and very emotional! I seem to cry everyday these days. We found out about a month ago that the baby is breech and if he doesn't turn I will have to have a c-section. I am not too happy about this and I am in a constant battle about what I need to do and what I don't. Tuesday we go to the dr to see if he has turned, if not then it is off to the c-section consultation with the dr. I am just hoping and praying that I am doing the right thing for my little guy! My midwife says she things his cord is too short and he is not able to turn, she is afraid that if I keep trying to turn him or if she does that he will suffocate- It is really scary to think of that happening just because I am being selfish about the birth that I want. I just want to make sure that what she is telling me is the truth and not just a way to make me feel better about having the c-section. One thing I know for sure is that I am so sick of being pregnant! I am achy and weepy and can't sleep, walk or pee! I am so miserable right now. Eben's mom is going to come out and stay with us after the baby is born, I am really excited about it and I know Eben is too! Uncle Jesse may come out as well but we don't know for sure! I had my baby shower! It turned out really great, we got a lot of presents and the babies room is completely ready to go!

So this is Christmas...
We have had so much fun this Christmas! It was actually our first one together believe it or not! After all the years we have spent together we always had someone in the way of us! So for the first one it was amazing! Eben didn't want to do Christmas decorations or presents, he said that this is his last year of not HAVING to do it so he didn't want to! Don't worry I informed him that it is important to me and of course he let me do it. I did compromise though, I put up the tiny tree and I didn't wrap any of his gifts.. In fact we did Christmas on the 23rd! We were just to excited to wait! I am getting closer and closer to being a mom! I will be 24 weeks on Monday! It is so hard to imagine that in 3 months I will have a baby! Sara came down and helped me get the babies room all set up. We got a changing table and a cradle and she brought me down her pack and play! I am so lucky she has had boys, I have everything I could possibly need and I didn't have to pay a dime for it! I am still really excited and not having many complications except my back hurts and I now have migraines..I love them. Migraines are the best!!! They are so bad that I am not able to see at all for about 2 hours when it starts- I have figured out that if I don't eat enough I get them, if I wear perfume I get one and if I don't wear my baby belt I get one! SO being more careful is what I need to do!! Eben has been really supportive and has helped me out a ton! He has really changed and is a great companion! I am just so lucky to have him! Juneau had a seizure a few weeks ago, it was really scary! I was a mess- we ran her to the ER and she ended up being fine, the vet thinks that she may have just had low blood sugar, so if she ever starts acting funny we have to give her a tablespoon of honey (which she hates!) but she has not had once since so we are very lucky about that! Being a parent is hard even if it is a parent of dogs! They stress me out so much when they are sick, but I guess it is good practice! OK well that is all for now, I have my targeted ultrasound next week so I will report back about that! Merry Christmas!

IT'S A BOY!!!!!
Well, we found out yesterday that we are having a boy!! We could not be happier about this!! We have been trying to think of girls names for the last 4 months with no luck at all, there was not one name that we could agree on together for more than a 24 hour period! Sara gave me tons and tons of boy clothes too so I am totally excited that I won't have to buy any clothes! I am getting so close to being done and having my baby, I only have to go to the dr two more months then I start my every two week visits for the last 12 weeks! Before I know it I will have my creation to hold and squeeze!!
